Microsoft has initiated a limited-time promotion offering customers $5 in Microsoft and Xbox store credit when pre-ordering Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on Xbox Series X/S or PC via the Xbox app or Microsoft Store. The scheme aims to encourage early purchases of the game on Microsoft platforms ahead of its release.
According to details published on Microsoft’s official terms and conditions, the offer applies to pre-orders made between 28 May and the deadline of 1 September 2026. Customers who qualify will receive a notification within 35 days of the game’s launch to claim the credit. This notification will appear as a pop-up on PC or Xbox, and the credit will also be accessible under the “Offers & Credits” section in user profiles.
The credit must be redeemed by 15 December 2026 and spent within 90 days of redemption. The promotion is available in a wide range of markets including the US, UK, Canada, several European countries, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, and others.
Pre-order Options and Platform Specific Discounts
The $5 credit applies to both the standard and Vault editions of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. Notably, the Vault Edition retails at $100/£100 but benefits from a 10% loyalty discount for players who have previously owned or played recent entries in the series, such as Modern Warfare (2019), Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered, Black Ops Cold War, Vanguard, Modern Warfare 2 (2022), Modern Warfare 3 (2023), Black Ops 6, and Black Ops 7. This loyalty discount is restricted to the same platform on which the qualifying games were played.
The promotion thus predominantly benefits Xbox and PC players due to platform-specific restrictions. The discount does not extend to Nintendo Switch 2 users, as none of the prior Call of Duty releases are available on Nintendo platforms. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, however, will mark the franchise’s first launch on a Nintendo platform in over a decade, scheduled for 23 October 2026.
