At this year’s CES 2012 event in Las Vegas Microsoft held their conference where they spilled all the beans on their recent successes. Fans of the Xbox will be happy to hear that their console was the top selling console in North America in 2011, selling more than 66 million consoles and earning nearly 40 million Xbox LIVE members around the world.
Over in the Kinect camp, Microsoft has sold more than 18 million Kinect sensorsaround the world, with the Kinect being the ‘must-have gift’ this Christmas. This has helped sell 800,000 Xbox 360 consoles on Black Friday alone.
Microsoft continued to announce further services for its Xbox LIVE service where more leading TV and entertainment service providers are set to deliver to the console in 2012. The UK kicked this off this week with the Netflicks App and there are a promised 50 active and announced partnerships coming to the console worldwide. So expect more live TV and on-demand TV to come within the year.
Other than Kinect announcements for the PC and Industries worldwide, there was very little else to take from Microsoft’s CES conference. All the eyes will be on their unveilings at this year’s E3 2012, where rumours are rife with word of a new console announcement.
