Microsoft Game Studios acquire Lionhead Studios

Peter Molyneux is famous for some of gamings most popular titles. These included Dungeon Keeper, Magic Carpet and Theme Park when he was park of Bullfrog. After setting up Lionhead Studios, the team went on to produce titles such as Black & White 1 & 2, Fable and The Movies. Fable will be the most well known to Xbox owners but Microsoft Games Studios have just purchased Lionhead Studios for an as of yet, unknown amount.

Lionhead will start by producing 360 and Windows based products. Fable and the Lost Chapters have passed the 2 million mark in sales which makes a sequel pretty much a guarantee. Hopefully this means that Black & White may take a visit to 360 land in the future. Here’s hoping we get to indulge in some good vs evil monster bashing!

A quote from the Official Press release.

“At Microsoft Game Studios we have worked hard to become the best partner for the best creative talent in our industry, and this acquisition underscores our commitment to excellence,” said Shane Kim, general manager of Microsoft Game Studios. “Peter Molyneux is one of the few true visionaries in our industry, and his joining us is incredibly important to the future of both interactive entertainment and MGS. Lionhead is a shining example of the innovative and creative talent that has delivered some of the most influential and unique games experiences to date, and I am honored to welcome Peter and the incredible people at Lionhead Studios.”

360Monster will keep you up to date with all of the Microsoft Game Studios and Lionheads plans for the 360.
