Microsoft Announces IPTV on Xbox 360

At CES in Las Vegas, Microsoft announced that IPTV will be coming to the Xbox 360 this year. IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) on Xbox 360 will allow users to watch live TV on their Xbox 360 or simply record it to their hard drive to watch back at a later date. You’ll even be able to watch your favourite shows while chatting to your friends or even gaming on Xbox Live while recording in the background.

Microsoft’s Robbie Bach had this to say:
“Our goal is to make entertainment more personal, more interactive and more social. IPTV on Xbox 360 and Xbox Live are powerful examples of ways we are bringing together the worlds of gaming, TV viewing and community to make it easy for people to access and discover their favorite content and share their personal experiences with the communities they are part of.”

IPTV on Xbox 360 is set to launch in the latter part of 2007. You can see IPTV on Xbox 360 in action here.
