Microsoft and Nintendo Speak about the PS3 price drop

Both Microsoft and Nintendo have been quick to react to yesterday’s news of a PS3 Price Drop. The 60 GB model will now cost $499 while a new 80GB model will cost $599.

A Microsoft spokesperson told IGN:
“We’re not surprised by Sony’s reaction to the market, We’ll see if it makes a difference. It’s interesting to note that they’ve significantly dropped their price in the first eight months while Xbox 360 has continued to sell well at our launch price for more than a year and a half. We’re right where we want to be right now — it’s all about choice and bringing the best games and entertainment to homes around the world.”

Meanwhile, Nintendo’s VP George Harrison said:
A $100 price drop won’t make a difference. Can Sony afford a $200 price drop? I don’t think so.”

So Sony’s biggest rivals aren’t convinced…who’d of thunk it!?
