Maddie reference “purely coincidental”

Yesterday Bungie released a trailer which revealed a Halo 3 expansion. Whilst watching the ‘Keep it Clean’ trailer, many of you may have spotted ‘Maddie, where are you?’ about 35 seconds into the trailer.

The immediate assumption many people made was to missing Madeleine McCann, a three-year-old girl who disappeared from her parent’s holiday apartment in Portugal in May last year. Madeleine McCann is often referred to as ‘Maddie’.

Bungie have confirmed via a post on their forums that the so-called reference to Madeleine McCann is “both an unfortunate and untended coincidence.” “As always, all of the characters in our games are fictional,” said lukems. He continued: “Any similarities between real life and the characters in our games are purely coincidental.”
