Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light DLC details

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light will not feature two player online co-op on the day of release it has been confirmed, though the feature will become available at a later date. Crystal Dynamics revealed the details in a press release, also announcing the arrival of downloadable content for the title releasing as part of the Summer of Arcade promotion.

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light releases on the Xbox Live Arcade on the 18th August, priced at 1200 Microsoft Points. A free update will then become available on the 28th September, introducing two player online co-op, full leaderboard support and voice chat functionality. Also on the 28th September, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light will be released on the PlayStation Network – priced at $14.99.

Furthermore, five “Downloadable Lara Croft” (DLC) packs will become available across both formats from October up until the end of 2010. The first three have been revealed as expansion packs that feature a combination of all new puzzles, exploration and combat experiences, as well as new areas to explore. The remaining two packs will contain new playable characters, offering gamers the chance to experience the adventure with “some other well-known video game characters.”

Speaking about the announcement, Darrell Gallagher (General Manager of Crystal Dynamics) revealed: “DLC for us means Downloadable Lara Croft. It all begins in August with Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light releasing on XBLA and runs through to the end of the year with the additional packs we will be offering. Oh and be prepared for a few surprises.”

Console Monster recently revealed the game’s achievements which gives gamers a hint at what to expect from the game when it releases. Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light will be available on the 18th August 2010 for 1200 Microsoft Points on the Xbox Live Marketplace and on the 28th September for $14.99 on the PlayStation Network.
