Infogrames acquires Atari

Overnight it was announced that Infogrames will acquire Atari in a deal set to make $11 million. Atari was infact already the largest stockholder in Infrogrames whom we hadn’t heard of by name for a while (the people who came up with Rollercoaster Tycoon and Colin McRae!).

Infrogrames are to lend Atari $20 million to help fund “operational cash requirements” until the merger is completed. Infogrames recently tried to acquire the company SCi but failed and presumably will be sweeter about this deal going through.

The final merger is expected to be done and dusted by the time the leaves fall of the trees in Autumn!
