Sony has just this moment released details for the next PS3 firmware update – version 2.5.
One of the best features and something which would come in handy for us journalists without resorting to fancy expensive hardware, is the ability to upload in-game screenshots on a game-by-game basis. These can be uploaded to a server and then shared with others or naturally put online for websites like this. Not all games will support this feature however and a list will be released soon.
The other main enhancement is support for the PS3 Official Bluetooth headset which is due to be released shortly. An on-screen indicator will show battery life, volume levels and the use of HQ mode.
The relatively new PlayStation Trophies will receieve some interface enhancements. The improvements will allow for sharing and comparing trophies in an easier manner.
Other minor updates include a notification for how long friends have being offline, a Scene Search function for video, a redeem codes section on the PSN Network, Power save settings to turn off controls and the unit after a designated period of inactivity and background downloading.
The update is shaping up to be pretty impressive, however no release date has yet being given. What would you like to see in the update? What do you think about the feature list? Tell us below!
