HMV has assured gamers and publishers that it is committed to selling video games, despite reducing the amount of shelf space they will receive.
CEO, Simon Fox, told MCV that they are “committed to games. Bringing games and tech together gives the category a much higher profile and will prove a real advantage. We want to work closer with publishers and the format holders. And I am hopeful they want to do the same with us.”
In spite of HMV’s landmark deal with its bank last year, the chain is cutting down on the shelf space video games will receive in stores. Speaking about the reduction, Fox said: “We intend to do that in a way that doesn’t undermine the offer. Our intention is that neither our publishers nor our customers will notice it.”
