Halo 5: Guardians beta open to Xbox One Preview members

The Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer beta will be open to Xbox One Preview program participants starting from today.

343 Industries and Microsoft announced that the three-day beta period will run until 11:59pm PST on Sunday, December 21st, 2014 (that’s 7:59am on Monday, December 22nd GMT).

Members of the Xbox One Preview program will receive a message on their console containing two download redemption codes: one to download the beta software and the second to unlock access.

According to Microsoft, the beta will contain content from week one of the main multiplayer beta, whereas “the full beta will feature a total of seven maps, three game types and a host of weapons that are released across the three-week period”.

However, Microsoft warned users that players will be unable to give away their codes to anyone who isn’t in the program: “Any attempt to sell, give away or trade these tokens will have consequences, up to and including removal from the Preview program and exclusion from future participation.”

The full Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer beta begins on Monday, December 29th, 2014, coming to a conclusion on Sunday, January 18th, 2015. Access to the beta will be given to those who have purchased Halo: The Master Chief Collection, as well as competition winners.
