Halo 3 User Interface Update

Bungie have recently updated the world with news regarding Halo 3 and the all new User Interface (Menu). It’s not exactly exciting news but its interesting all the same.

Bungies ever popular, ever bald Frankie said the following about the new Halo 3 interface, “As it stands now, the interface is designed to make it very simple to get to a ‘lobby’ and make all necessary changes from there, so that you can customize your experience, appearance, and more importantly, really specific game types from anywhere.”

What Frankie is trying to say is that users will be able to completly customise custom games from the lobby. In Halo 2 gamers found it annoying that you could only change certain aspects of a custom game in the lobby and if you wanted to change more advanced settings you would have to leave the lobby and then create the relevant gametype.

Frankie continues by saying, “The problem with adapting to a new UI is the problem of familiarity, you expect things to behave the way they did in Halo 2 and when they don’t, it’s easy to think, ‘Oh, that’s broken,’ when in fact, something has technically been fixed. And the sign of a good UI is that it only takes a couple of tries to get used to it, and that everything is found in its logical place.

So there you have it, the interface is having a major overhaul in time for Halo 3’s release in 2007. We can only hope that Halo 3 lives up to the huge amount of hype it has already created in the past few months.
