Sony has revealed that the recently announced God of War: Ascension will come with a multiplayer component.
The game will feature multiplayer battles of up to 8 players and allow customisation of avatars, armour and weapons. Further customisation will be opened up once the player aligns with one of the four Greek gods: Zeus, Ares, Poseidon or Hades, suggesting there will be a class or based system in place .
Todd Papy, game director at developer Sony Santa Monica, said: “The bar is set quite high for this franchise, as each God Of War title succeeds in being better than the last. Combined with refined gameplay, jaw-dropping visuals and a fresh twist on competitive gaming with our new online multiplayer mode, I guarantee that God Of War: Ascension will give fans what they have been eagerly waiting for, and much more.”
The game will, of course, also feature a single player campaign. The game is set before the God of War trilogy and sees Kratos struggling to break free of the blood oath which binds him to Ares. For those wondering, Kratos’ signature chained blades will be returning in the game.
