The USK, the organisation responsible for rating video games in Germany, has dealt a blow to German Xbox 360 owners by giving Gears of War a “No Rating”. Microsoft is said to have submitted the game several times (presumably slightly different each time) but each was refused. This means that German retailers will be forbidden from stocking the game.
After consultation with Epic, the games developers, and the USK, Microsoft says a cut down version of the game is simply “not possible” as it would fundamentaly change the core gameplay too much.
It’s not the first time the USK has given a 360 game a “No Rating”. The only other game to recieve this is, unsurprisingly, Dead Rising. It’ll come as a blow to Microsoft, as Germany is one of the biggest gaming markets in Europe.
On a much more pleasing note, we’ve just added some brand new screenshots of the game to the site. Check them out now in the Media page.
