As the release of Assassin’s Creed II draws closer and closer, the latest detail to be let slip by Ubisoft about what is sure to be a stellar title is one that brings both a quiver of excitement and a smile to my lips. The announcement that the Yes Man himself is to voice one of the story’s essential characters.
Sorry to any fans of Jim Carrey out there, led on to expect some kind of Cable Guy-esque appearance, but I’m talking about the real Yes Man, British humourist, Danny Wallace who has been unveiled to voice the character of Shaun Hastings in AC2, a historian who will guide the player through the world of 15th Century, mid-Renaissance Venice.
Wallace is sure to add a touch of the funny to the otherwise grisly passtime of murdering the nobility.
Of the ShortList columnist, AC2’s script writer, Corey May said, “When the UK suggested Danny to us, we were completely open to the idea. Danny has been fantastic to work with, and his manner and particular style of humor has worked out perfect for the role of Shaun”. The man himself reinforced his gaming credentials when quizzed on the announcement, “Going right back to my days of working on Sega Power, I’ve always been a keen gamer, and being involved – and actually being in a game like Assassin’s Creed II is amazing! I have to say, I’m rather excited”. We’re rather excited too, Danny. Rather excited indeed.
Danny Wallace, or should I say, Shaun Hastings?
