I’m sure the many of you who have played Gears of War online have come across “achievement addicts”, begging for a few headshots and weapon kills but it seems Epic Studios are taking action against it. Cliff Bleszinski from Epic Studios (Gears of War) has confirmed to CVG that they will be “throttling” the amount of achievements players can unlock at any given point in Gears of War 2.
Cliff gave an example: “If you’re going for headshots, you get one headshot that counts and any other headshots won’t count towards your Achievement, so players don’t just play to get headshots the entire round just to get Achievements.” He continued: “I don’t want to get into too much of the multiplayer right now, but one thing I can confirm is that we are doing Achievement progress so that players will be able to essentially track how far they’re getting with each Achievement in whichever mode.”
Gears of War 2 is expected to release towards the end of the year.
