EA: Xbox One sales are ‘catching up quickly’ to PS4

A top EA executive believes the console war is closer than people think.

Speaking at the UBS Global Technology Conference, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said: “Clearly Sony has jumped out to a lead with a great console and I think a great pricing strategy, but Microsoft is catching up quickly.”

Recent figures revealed that Sony’s PlayStation 4 has a 2:1 lead over Microsoft’ Xbox One. However, a recent price cut from the latter is said to have levelled the playing field.

Speaking about the price reduction, Jorgensen said that the “pricing actions that are taking place, particularly during this Christmas season, driven by Microsoft, around reduction plus a lot ofbundled software, I think will continue to pull the consumer into the new consoles.”
