EA wants to cosy up with Bungie

EA has revealed it is interested in working alongside Bungie Studios, when they next open a new project.

In an interview withCVG, EA Partners boss David DeMartini said: “I want them to be successful. And when they start up a second team, we’ll have other discussions with them about that game as well – because they’re a great studio. There are probably only 20 studios in the world that are that highest level – and they’re certainly one of them.

DeMartini revealed that it tried to cuddle-up with Bungie for the first new property it revealed which will see them teaming up alongside publisher Activision.

“If you look at Bungie and the profile of the other studios who are part of the EA Partners programme, it would seem that they would have been a great fit into that programme,” he said.

“But at the same time, we have a very specific set of criteria we have in regards to our deals. It’s not good to enter into a partnership that doesn’t make financial sense for both sides.

“We had extensive conversations with them, but could never really figure out a deal that made sense for both of us. It just didn’t come to fruition.”

Bungie will release Halo Reach in Autumn and has already made plans for a ten year partnership with Activision to deliver a new action game.
