EA Comment on BF3 Boycott

Yesterday we commented on a possible Battlefield 3 boycott by gamers due to what was deemed unfair treatment of gamers who pre-ordered the new game. Today EA have come forward and made a statement of their own.

The main cause of the boycott was the exclusive weapons deal which could cause an imbalance against players who do not pay for the game in advance and those who do not pre-order BF3. Also the Back to Karkand expansion pack being more expansion to gamers picking the title up on the high street.

EA commented via their Battlefield blog saying, “Because we believe in rewarding our core fanbase with special offers — such as giving them the Back to Karkand expansion pack at no extra charge.”

They went on to comment about the possible imbalance this ‘favoritism’ will create, “The three exclusive items in the Physical Warfare Pack were specifically chosen not to be overpowered or imbalance or break the game in any way.”

So there you have it, the additional items granted to those that pre-order BF3 will not imbalance the game, it just means that some gamers will have a few more toys to play with.
