Destiny beta attracted over four million players

Over four million players took part in the Destiny beta, according to the game’s publisher.

Activision revealed that the beta, which ran from July 22nd until July 27th, attracted 4,638,937 unique players across all platforms.

Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg said: “This is the biggest beta of this console generation by a wide margin and the largest console beta ever for a new video game IP to date.

“Hosting a beta at this scale is an incredible feat, so we’re thrilled to see the phenomenal response. But the beta is just a taste of what’s to come. We’re counting down the days to our launch day.”

The full game is set to launch on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One from September 9th, 2014.
