Darksiders Sequel Gets New Star

THQ’s often-underrated apocalyptic adventure Darksiders will be getting the sequel mootedalready mooted during its climax, butit won’t be followingthe path many of us expected.

According to reports, THQ’s Executive Vice President Danny Bilson has confirmed that Darksiders 2 will feature a new protagonist.Thestory takes place concurrently with the first game, meaning that War will be pre-occupiedsmashing angels and demons into tiny pieces and getting his crank yanked by Mark Hamill’s Watcher. “Because there’s only one Apocalypse,” isBilson’s reason for the change ofprotagonist,”and I couldn’t very well write one for each Horseman.” Makes sense to me.

This newdirection fuels speculation that thesequel’s maincharacter will be one of War’s siblings, though this is yet to be confirmed. Also, with War’s story potentially unfinished at the conclusion of Darksiders, future sequels may yetcontinue his adventures.

No release datehas been confirmed yet, but at this early stage Darksiders 2 isn’t expected to land until some time in 2013.

Mick Fraser

The first game Mick ever played was Dexter’s Laboratory on the ZX81. After waiting 45 minutes for it to load he was hooked in moments and has been gaming ever since. He’s gone through almost every console ever released and even had a brief stint in the early noughties as a PC gamer, until he had to give it up to break his World of Warcraft addiction. Now he splits his life between loving his family, playing and writing about games and trying to sell indie novels.
