German website Xbox-Archiv is reporting that the Core Xbox 360 could seen be a thing of the past. It comes after two major German retailers dropped the price of the Premium Xbox 360 to just €299, the same price that the Core retails for. Xbox-Archiv contacted a number of retailers regarding the future of the Core system and many commented that the Core system would be phased out toward the second half of 2007.

Sticking with rumours from Xbox-Archiv, the site says that “reliable sources” has said that Microsoft now plans to release an upgrded Xbox 360 in May 2007. The long rumoured black Xbox 360 is said to include a 120GB HDD and HDMI port. It is said to retail between €350 and €450 (£239 and £307).

Finally, we knew it was coming in Autumn, but Xbox-Archiv states that the release date for Halo 3 has been narrowed down to November. The site also suggests it will be released on November 15th, exactly six years after the original Xbox released and with it the original Halo: Combat Evolved.
