Treyarch has admitted that multiplayer was well under-way in the development of Call of Duty: Black Ops before the single-player game. The team used resources from the multiplayer to speed up the process of creating the main campaign:
“We’ve had a dedicated team working on [online] since day one,” Josh Olin said, who is Treyarch’s community manager, speaking to IGN.
“Let me put it in perspective for you. We had multiplayer started and up and running in the project so early that some single-player levels actually are being built around multiplayer maps that we had in production,” he added.
Call of Duty: Black Ops will see you in a team of operatives in the Special Forces, during the Cold War. Locations across the globe will feature and one of the confirmed areas will be Vietnam.
Black Ops is due on 9th November on Xbox 360 and PS3.
