Prepare for thousands of Xbox 360 owners to go into “nostalgia” mode. Rare have today announced that the all-time classic N64 title Goldeneye will be appearing on Xbox 360! Ok, so it’s only in the form of a recreated version of the Facility map of the game for Perfect Dark Zero, but I’m sure Goldeneye fans won’t be complaining at the chance to play arguably the greatest deathmatch map in history.
Also coming, as part of PDZ’s “Map Pack 2”, is another N64 remake. The original Perfect Dark’s “Ruin” map will also be included in the download. Map Pack 2 for Perfect Dark Zero will be available sometime in November for free (yes, free!). Rare are also planning to release a patch that will fix the “cover move” exploit which allowed players to effectively hide in the scenery.
In the final piece of PDZ news today, Rare have announced that Perfect Dark Zero: Platinum Edition will be released next month to celebrate the game selling over one million copies. Map Pack 2 will be included in the Platinum Edition and presumably Map Pack 1 will be as well.
Update: “Map Pack 2” is now available on the Xbox Live Marketplace for free. The download is available in all regions but is only available to Xbox Live Gold members.
