Activision is getting quite a lot of flack these days for their seemingly outrageous choice in pricing. Modern Warfare 2 was announced to sell at a recommended retail price of £54.99. Obviously this has torn the community who is desperately excited for Infinity Wards sequel to the award winning Modern Warfare but can’t justify the increased price tag. Boycotts have been announced and even CEO of the company, Bobby Kotick, had the audacity to announce that he would have liked to charge more! What will this mean for the arcade version?
The listing for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Hardened Edition (breathe) on Play has released an estimation of the pricing for the Call of Duty arcade game that comes included in the special edition. The features listed for the Hardened Edition on Play.com state that the arcade game redeem code will be equivalent to the value of1200 MS points (£9.99).
Maybe charging full price for the arcade game was a shallow move seeing you can easily pick up the title on PC for £4.99 at most retailers. Don’t get me wrong, Call of Duty is a fantastic title and well worth the £9.99 price point if the servers are supported well. Let us just hope we don’t have another Battlefield 1943 on our hands or there will be a lot of unhappy customers.
We still have no confirmation as to when the XBLA/PSN title will be released or the official pricing. Let us know how you feel in the comments.
