There has been many rumours flying around about whether or not Activision could have the cheek to charge a monthly subscription fee for their hit franchise Call of Duty. Well I’m glad to let you know that this will ‘never’ happen and as far as Activision are concerned, it will always remain free of charge.
Speaking to Industry Gamers, Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg had this to say on the matter…
“Are we going to be charging for multiplayer? The answer is no,”
“The experience you have out of the box, connecting with the online community to play Call of Duty is absolutely integral to the experience and we’ll never charge for that.
“It’s not going to be something we’ll attempt to monetise; it’s part of the package,” he stressed.
“Nothing we or anyone else tries is going to work if it doesn’t have tremendous value for people and add a tremendous value to the gaming experience… At the end of the day, all I’m trying to get across is I can unequivocally say we will never, ever charge for the multiplayer.”
Phew. Activision get enough money from me as it is so I’m more than happy. What do you think of the news? Would you even consider paying a monthly fee to access the multiplayer features of Call of Duty? Share your thoughts in a comment below…
