Call of Duty 4 sales hit 9 million!

Ever since it was announced, it was expected that Call of Duty 4 (COD4) would sell a huge number of copies. In it’s launch month alone it managed to sell more than 2 million units across the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 platforms.

Even more amazing, is the fact that despite only being released in November, COD4 took the 2007 sales crown by selling more than 7 million copies of the game before the years end. Quite an achievement.

COD4’s selling streak didn’t end there, as it also managed to be the top selling game for both January and February of 2008, only being knocked off the top spot by Super Smash Bros. Brawl in March.

However, there was still some good news. According to figures from the NPD group, there was still significant sales of COD4 in March. Enough sales in fact to push the total number of copies sold to a mind blowing 9 million copies!

Continuing in the trend of huge sales figures, the COD4 Variety Map Pack managed to break the Xbox 360 DLC records, racking up an amazing 1 million downloads within 9 days of it’s release!

Thomas was once a nice casual gamer, but within the last few years he has been slowly transforming into somewhat of a gaming fanatic, playing games in his spare time, and testing games all day at work! Whilst he enjoys just about any game, he loves getting his groove on with some online gaming, blasting away his fellow gamers with huge satisfaction. His gamer alias of Kirbish is an ode to Nintendo's pink puffball Kirby, although he has no idea why he likes him so much! Aside from gaming Thomas is a pretty big fan of WWE, and so if you come across him online, be prepared for him to lay the smack down!
