Bungie: Don’t install Halo 3 to the hard drive

The New Xbox Experience is settling in quite nicely despite the odd problems and one of the new features of installing games to the hard drive has produced some controversy. Bungie have warned players of Halo 3 not to install the disc to their hard drive; reason being because it will make the game load slower, rather than faster.

In a new post on the company’s website, Bungie have said the following: “Please be aware that installing Halo 3 to your HDD will actually result in longer load times and thus a less optimal experience than if you run the game from the disc drive,” the company said on its website. This happens due to the way Halo 3 already uses a HDD to cache data and once you do an install, you are copying between two different areas of the same drive as you are loading a map.

Noticeable differences may be noticed when playing through the game’s campaign mode though otherwise it is not recommended installing the game to your hard drive.
