Brutal Legend rescued by EA

EA have announced they have rescued developer Double Fine Productions to enable them to release Brutal Legend on the Xbox 360 and the PS3.

Brutal Legend was originally to be published by Sierra shortly before being dropped thanks to the Activision Blizzard merger. The game is now on course for an Autumn 2009 release.

The story behind the game sees a heavy metal roadie called Eddie Riggs, who is placed into a fantasty world based on rock culture but one where metal titans have ruled the world. It is up to Eddie to try and revert the world to its former glory by asking upon a number of rockers to come and help you.

To try and blend in some likenesses, Rob Halford (Judas Priest), Lemmy Kilmister (Motorhead) and Ronnie James Dio (Black Sabbath) will all lend there voices for the game. Generous of them…

But best of all is that Jack Black will voice Eddie Riggs, a coup for the company to get such a big film star.

We’ll have more details on Brutal Legend during the coming year.
