Blood’s On The Sand And The Word’s On The Street

With the release of 50 Cent: Blood In The Sand looming, it is probably wise to take a step back from the (lack of) hype and take a look at what the game will involve. The protagonist slot will be, once again, filled by everyone’s favourite bullet-riddled east coast rapper, 50 Cent and the game will be set in a fictional Middle Eastern-based country.

Yeah, Fiddy. Beating up Middle-Eastern people in a game. No controversy there…

By taking the frankly whimsical idea that a rapper is some unrealised form of super-warrior and then plonking him with all the weapons you like in the Middle East has removed any form of realism that there might be about this title. With release due for February 20th, perhaps, following GTA IV’s overly serious approach, this will be a breath of fresh air. I wouldn’t want to put too much wind in its sails though.

Sam has been unable to peel his bloodshot eyes and RSI-ridden wrists from the world of gaming since he was first introduced to it, like all good junkies, by his Grandad. From those early days of MegaDrive sweetness, bashing through the throngs of enemies on Shining Force II, his love of all things games has extended upwards and outwards onto a variety of platforms. You can either believe that spiel, or get the real scoop and know that his spaceship actually crashed here some years ago and he is currently incognito as a games writer for Console Monster.
