Avatars are coming to Xbox One, according to job listing

Avatars will soon be introduced on the Xbox One, according to a job listing on the Microsoft Careers website.

Spotted by DualShockers, the ad for a senior graphics engineer said that the virtual representations “will advance to the next level” with “higher fidelity and a bigger stage in new Xbox experiences”.

The job listing continued: “At Xbox we’re looking for a senior graphics engineer that will work with us to grow the avatar platform across all of our platforms, leveraging the power of Xbox One, the far reach of Windows, and the intimacy of touch on mobile devices.”

Xbox Avatars were first introduced in 2008, as part of the NXE dashboard update. Since then, they have featured on a number of Xbox 360 titles, including Guitar Hero 5, though they have yet to make an appearance on the latest console.
