There could be trouble on the horizons for PlayStation 3 owners as Activision boss Bobby Kotick threatens to drop development on the PlayStation 3.
Speaking in an interview with The Times, Bobby Kotick stated: “I’m getting concerned about Sony – the PS3 is losing a bit of momentum and they don’t make it easy for me to support the platform.”
“It’s expensive to develop for the console, and the Wii and the Xbox are just selling better. Games generate a better return on invested capital on the Xbox than on the PlayStation.”
Kotick believes that in an effort to boost sales, the PlayStation 3 should receive some of that much needed price cut treatment.
“They have to cut the price, because if they don’t, the attach rates are likely to slow,” he continued. “If we are being realistic, we might have to stop supporting Sony. When we look at 2010 and 2011, we might want to consider if we support the console — and the PSP too.”
Do you think that this could ever actually become a major problem? This could mean that games like Call of Duty wouldn’t be available on PlayStation 3. I personally don’t think it will ever come to that, but you never know.Drop offa comment with your thoughts below!
