Following the release of the company’s latest earnings report, Activision CEO Bobby Kotick today spoke about the publisher’s plans for the 2008 fiscal year, which begins on April 1st 2007. Firstly, and possibly least surprising, Activision will be releasing new games in both the Call of Duty and Tony Hawk’s franchises after the current games in both series (Call of Duty 3 and Tony Hawk’s Project 8 respectively).
Kotick stated that Activision will be releasing three movie tie-ins, Spider-Man 3, Shrek 3 and Transformers, early in the new fiscal year alongside other as yet unnanounced Marvel titles.
“We’ll start the first quarter of fiscal with three strong movie-supported franchises, Spider-man 3, Shrek 3 and Transformers. Also anchoring our slate in fiscal 2008 will be strong new titles from a number of our core franchises: Tony Hawk, Call of Duty, and Marvel.”
There will be another World Series of Poker game and a third Guitar Hero game, recent rumours suggest we could see this on the 360.
Lastly, Kotick said that Activision’s first game in their recently aquired James Bond franchise will not be released until the next movie is released (not including Casino Royale which is to be released in cinemas worldwide this November):
“MGM has announced the release date for the next Bond movie following this holiday for May of 2008. That is where we would focus to have our first game.”
