Pearl Abyss has released its latest DLC for Crimson Desert Enhanced titled Charting the Unknown, now available on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC with Xbox Play Anywhere support. The update introduces new storylines, ocean exploration, romance elements, expanded housing and stronghold management, and fresh combat challenges.
The DLC arrives seven months after the game’s March 2026 launch, building on the world of Pywel where players control Kliff and the Greymanes as they struggle to restore what has been lost. Pearl Abyss previously rolled out a significant free update in August 2026—Patch Version 2.00—that expanded story content, voice-over options, languages, and quality-of-life improvements, branding the experience Crimson Desert Enhanced.
New Storylines and Ocean Exploration Expand the Pywel Experience
Charting the Unknown adds three distinct storylines focused on key characters Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane, each pursuing separate paths after the main conflict involving the Greymanes. Beyond narrative content, this DLC introduces ocean exploration for the first time in the series, allowing players to sail across the Great Ocean of Pywel. Players can build their own ship and dive underwater to discover ruins, treasure, new creatures, and mounts.
With broadened interaction possibilities, players can deepen relationships with various characters in Pywel, unlocking romance and marriage. The housing system also sees an overhaul: players can construct houses from scratch with detailed customization including walls, windows, and interiors. Liberated castles can now be claimed and customised with unique furnishings and decorations.
Stronghold Management and Combat Challenges Offer Additional Depth
Stronghold features are expanded with options to lease and operate facilities like smithies or restaurants within liberated areas. Gamers can assign equipment and comrades, manage goods production, and enhance stronghold recognition, integrating management gameplay into exploration and combat.
The DLC also brings the Garden of Trials, a new challenge mode where players face bosses encountered during their journey consecutively. This mode provides an option for those seeking increased combat difficulty and skill testing within the Crimson Desert experience.
Free Trial Available for Xbox Players
To coincide with the DLC’s release, Pearl Abyss offers Xbox players a five-hour free trial of the base Crimson Desert Enhanced game from October 29, 2026 through January 7, 2027. This window provides an opportunity to explore Pywel and access new content introduced in Charting the Unknown without purchasing the full game immediately.
Charting the Unknown continues Crimson Desert’s post-launch expansion on Xbox platforms and PC, focusing on delivering new content that extends the game’s narrative and gameplay systems. The DLC is only confirmed for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC at this time.
