Approximately 80% of Battlefield Hardline’s console copies were sold on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, EA has revealed.
The figure means only one in every five copies was sold on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Speaking at the publisher’s latest earnings call, EVP Blake Jorgensen said that, despite the figures, the company will continue to develop on the older consoles.
He explained: “We will see a slow movement away from Gen-3 [Xbox 360 and PS3]. As a reminder, we’ve been making Gen-2 console games up until the last year or so.
“For some of our bigger franchises like our sports franchises, we’ll continue to make Gen-3. But we’re making some decisions on new franchises and titles to focus on Gen-4, partially because the power of the platform allows for exceptional gameplay and incredible graphics.”
Battlefield Hardline launched on Tuesday, March 17th, 2015.
