The Xbox 360’s Video Marketplace, which allows users to download TV Shows and Movies onto their Xbox 360, is outperforming Amazon’s Unbox service. According to a report by Variety, users prefer the ease of using the service on Xbox 360.
The report also suggests that box office flops are performing well on the Video Marketplace as users are eager to get the latest high definition content on their console. Ross Honey, senior director for media at Microsoft’s content and partner strategy group had this to say:
“If you look at our sales charts, movies like The Perfect Storm, Unforgiven and Swordfish are all doing disproportionately better than you would expect, and the only explanation is that they’re available in HD.”
