Meanwhile following the announcement that PS3 sales are up 100%, Microsoft has announced that 25 million Xbox 360 consoles will have being sold by the end of the month worldwide.
“The future of home entertainment is Xbox 360 – it’s on demand, it’s high definition, it’s always social, it’s all in one place,” said Xbox boss Don Mattrick.
“With the New Xbox Experience we will reach the next generation of Xbox owners, 25 million and beyond. We are at a watershed moment, backed by the largest entertainment brands, with an incredible line-up of entertainment unmatched in any industry.”
The sales means that the Xbox 360 has outsold its former system, the Xbox, in only three years of being on sale. The life-span of the Xbox was four years.
And tomorrow will see the arrival of the New Xbox Experience, which will refresh the console a whole three years after it originally came out. Out the blades shall go and in comes a new fresh interface with party system, game install options and personal Avatars.
Very exciting stuff indeed. Get those fingers ready as the download hits tomorrow morning!
