With the month of October over, the staff here at Console Monster reflect back at the last month’s current events in the gaming world, as well as give a little insight of their gaming antics this month, and what they are looking forward to playing next month. To kick off, the Console Monster staff let you know what they’ve been playing over the past month…

Dave: October was originally supposed to be my ‘gaming’ month but I ended up doing work. Why? Because my Xbox 360 received the red ring of death. I managed to obtain a ‘spare’ console though there’s an obvious difference between the two (more noticeably the loudness of the console). However, I did play a fair few games. Fable 2 is quite simply my favourite game of this month. It really is a gaming masterpiece. Other new titles I’ve played this month include FIFA 09, Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 and Spiderman: Web of Shadows. As for the Xbox Live Arcade, only Portal: Still Alive has reached my hard drive.

Chris: This month is the beginning of the end of my wallet. By Christmas I will have absolutely no money because of all the amazing games coming out. This month has mainly been spread between Mega Man 9 and Fable 2, which are both just so amazing. Fable 2 has completely sucked me in. I loved the original so I was happy to be back in Albion once again. Mega Man 9 is really hard yet I keep coming back to it. I’ve defeated three of the Robot Masters so far and died a lot. I’ve also, of course, been playing Rock Band a heck of a lot mainly on vocals using my amazing singing abilities.

Rob: I finally completed GTA IV after all these months which was very exciting for me personally at last! The reason I wanted to do this was because Saints Row 2 was coming and a whole lot sooner than with GTA, I also completed that. The game was very funny in parts and I thoroughly enjoyed how different it was to GTA. With Fable II receiving rave reviews, I decided to fork out for that and have been pleasantly surprised by it so far.

Reece: October has been a busy month for myself, especially for Mr Xbox 360. I gave a good amount of my months gaming to Fracture, Warhammer Battle March, NHL 2k9 and GTA IV, but I have by far given the majority of my time to Fable 2 and Far Cry 2. Fable 2 is a fantastic title which anyone would enjoy, which in my case means a second play through. Far Cry 2 on the other hand has been an interesting title to play with some fantastic features, and some unfortunate let downs. A final mention goes to Mirror’s Edge, which is bloody fantastic! Get on XBL and get downloading the demo right now, I demand it of you!

Anthony: October has been a bit of a blur for me, with work taking its toll. I managed to get my second repaired 360 back within just over a week, which was good. It’s amazing how much I still miss it once it’s taken away for repair, even when I hardly use it for weeks! After catching up on all the Xbox trials and demos (all disappointing) I made a bee line to GTA IV, and like Rob, finally completing the story campaign – YAY! I was expecting more of a climax at the end to be honest, the Ronin inspired mission would have been a better ending in my opinion. On the PS3 there is always room for Wipeout HD so I’ve been dipping my toe in that now and again. I was disappointed I didn’t get enough time to play any more of the Little Big Planet Beta, but I thoroughly enjoyed what time I did get with it. Recently, I’ve given Far Cry 2 a quick look in, but for some reason I’m finding it really dull and boring, I can’t quite put my finger on why, it’s just not compelling enough for me to keep my interested, does it get any better later on? You tell me…

Well that’s it, short and sweet. Why not let us know what YOU have been playing this past month by leaving your feedback in the comments! We’ll have more Monster Month tomorrow, where we’ll be telling you what we are looking forward to playing in November.
