The Kinect effect

Well, it’s been a while. What exactly have I been up to? Working full-time pretty much is the answer and selling the games rather than playing them!

My job at Game means I’m usually sick of videogames the time I land at home, so the Xbox has seen little gameplay over the past few months. That isn’t to mean I haven’t played some gems, because it’s been a superb on the Xbox Live Arcade and for new releases with an action packed schedule.

Things are calming down now, with Gran Turismo finally out nextWednesday and few key releases then until afterXmas. There is still a lot to catch up on the Xbox Live Arcade though withmy personal favourite Crazy Taxi around the corner.

I did hit a milestone mark of 50K gamerscore at last with some new achievements from Kinect which I purchased on launch day. The technology is superb but it needs a lot of room to use effectively particulary with two players. I have resisted Call of Duty mainly as a ‘two-fingered’ salute at Activision over inflated RRP prices and shafting retailers let alone the news that they are laying jobs off. Did I mention Bobby Kotick is a prick?

With the arrival of Kinect, it means my gaming can come in shorter but more active bursts, including Dance Central and Your Shape (you’ll see reviews soon for these). Hopefully I can review some more titles to see what the lineup offers particulary with a lot of titles sharing themes.

Until next time, probably in 2011, tell me what you’ve enjoyed over the past few months below. Cya soon.
