My Top 5 most anticipated titles of 2011
Here at Console Monster HQ we’ve already looked at a whole list of new games that are expected to release next year, and by the looks of it, it’s going to get bigger and better. It’s now time for me to give my top five titles of 2011 which I cannot wait for. These games are in no particular order as I would take any of them now given the chance. See if you agree with me…
LittleBigPlanet 2 returns to the PlayStation 3 this month to kick off 2011. In its second outing for the little Sackboy, players will continue from the previous events seen in the first game. On the surface LBP2 may not look any different to you, however unlike the first game, which played more like a platformer, LBP2’s main focus is being a platform for all game types. So expect many ways in which you can play and create in this new sequel. We are looking forward to seeing what genres the creators in LBP2 can come up with when LBP2 releases in the first month of the year.
Expected release date : January 2011
Gears of War 3 is said to be the concluding part to the trilogy. Pushed back to November, Gears of War 3 takes place 18 months after the end of Gears of War 2. Marcus, Dom, and the last of the remaining humanity must pull together to tackle a new threat that is even more terrifying than the Locust – the Lambent. Four-player co-op, the introduction of three new playable female characters, a new playable male character, new weapons, mech suits, Ice-T, swapable weapons and new executions outline the various new features coming to this game. A new multiplayer mode, called Beast mode, fronts the latest updates for the multiplayer aspect of the game, along with a few twists to existing multiplayer modes from the previous games. Expect a playable beta this year, with early access if you pick up a limited edition copy of Bulletstorm.
Expected release date : November 2011
Our favourite bald-headed, clothes-stealing, barcode-tattoo-wearing Agent 47 is rumoured to return in Q4 2011 (at the earliest) in Hitman 5. This game is yet to be officially announced by its proposed developers IO Interactive, or by its publisher Edios/Square Enix, so details on this game are as hidden as the bald-headed fella himself. Online retailer Play.com has the game set for a 28th November 2011 release so we are pretty certain that we will see Agent 47 come out from the shadows at this year’s gaming expos in a few months time.
Expected release date : Q4 2011 – 2012
It was 2007 since we last played as Ghosts. Now in 2011, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon returns with Future Soldier. The year is 2015 and the Ghosts are fighting an ultra-nationalist force that have taken control of Russia and are now attacking neighbouring countries, including Norway, Middle East and Asia. Just like in previous titles of the franchise, you take control of a four-man squad, each with their own skills and abilities. Sadly Future Solider is another game in Ubisoft’s line-up of 2011 titles that has slipped into their next financial year, which means we might be seeing this title much later in the year or even in 2012.
Expected release date : April 2011 – 2012
Drake returns in 2011 in the third installment of the series. In Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, Nathan Drake and his sidekick and mentor, Victor Sullivan, embarks on more adventures around the world, to such places like Rub’al Khali desert in search of the legendary lost city – the Iram of the Pillars. Setting the game in desert landscapes has been a desire for its developers, Naughty Dog, allowing the creative team to push themselves both technologically and creatively. Expect the usual jumping, sliding and falling toils and troubles that seems to follow where ever Drake goes. Improved enemy AI is promised, as is their ability to form squads when attacking you. Online multiplayer and co-op features are also planned, in what is going to be an epic game for PlayStation 3 owners.
Expected release date : November 2011
FIFA 12: The next installment of FIFA, if anything like its predecessors, will yet again improve in both fluency, graphics and authenticity. I can’t wait to hear more details when they become available.
Call of Duty: Unknown: It’s going to comer if we want it or not and luckily for Activision, I want it. When more details appear i’ll start to get excited.
Do you agree with that having the above games next week would be awesome? That’s the main games on my radar just now but no doubt it will grow leaps and bounds over the next few months. Let me know your top five most anticipated games of 2011 in a comment below…
