Bloodline Champions

Bloodline Champions

Since Console Monster is strictly a console dedicated website (with the Wii being considered some sort of childrens play toy), I like to extend a little bit of alternate format coverage here in my blog. Today’s winner is the good old PC!

A few days ago I received a much welcome email from FunCom (developers of Age of Conan) informing me that I have a beta invite for their upcoming published game Bloodline Champions. A game in which I had heard absolutely zero about until now, but after a few glimpses of the screenshots that are very reminiscent of World of Warcraft, Diablo and Warcraft 3… I want to know more.

Turns out the game plays very much like WoW arena (for anyone that has tasted the addiction), a team based deathmatch (2v2, 3v3, 5v5, etc) with third person RPG controls. You’re character (one from a line up) has a hot bar of 8 unique abilities that help you control the enemy, escape an attack, deal damage and heal others – needing you to learn a characters abilities and be prepared to respond correctly in the midst of a battle. The bliss comes with the game having a division based ladder system, having you progress up the leagues if performing well in rated matches.

I gave the game a chance and have now managed to fall in love with it, for the time being at least. For anyone that has themselves a beta key (anyone that has played Age of Conan I believe) they should certainly give it a go, especially if like me you love competitive team based gameplay.

Game on!
