There has been a growing amount of articles reporting that Microsoft will possibly be unveiling the Xbox 720 at E3 2012. Until now we at Console Monster have decided against reporting on the news, especially since Microsoft has only just come out and said the current 360 easily has another 4 or 5 years left in the tank. With more and more articles popping up though we thought we’d take a look at these claims.
BGR has reported that ‘a source with knowledge of Microsoft’s plans’ has “confirmed” the company’s plans to reveal the 720 in LA next year. They also continued to say that nothing is known about the 720’s launch plans, but it has been in development since 2006. Although I can believe the latter, as let’s be honest ideas for the 720 no doubt started hitting the board as soon as the 360 was released. The same is not said for the first part of the claim ‘a source’ is a very vague, very easy thing to write.
Videogamer also reported earlier this month that the Xbox 720’s reveal would take place within a year. This time the information came from the company Crytek who later came out and dismissed said rumour.
Sony is also supposedly revealing the new Playstation within 18 months. What do you the readers think, fact or fiction, will we be seeing a new black (or white) box or is this simply myth and conjecture?
