Activision have today revealed that their upcoming title Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will ship alongside it’s new subscription service Call of Duty: Elite.
Although they have said that it will be a free service for Call of Duty players they went on to say that not every part of Elite will be available to gamers with “some paid aspects TBD”.
Call of Duty: Elite will be available for a monthly subscription fee reports the Wall Street Journal, and will provide extra content including downloadable map packs as part of the subscription.
Elite will provide a stats service which will thankfully be free along with the ability to meet up and chat with friends via facebook. You will also be able to scrutinize how you play the game with the help of Elite. It will be able to tell you which weapons you are most sucessful with on various game modes and maps, which killstreaks are easiest to get to and much, much more.
Although a risky move no doubt many gamers will still buy into Activisions new ‘Elite’ service. There is currently no details on price but Activision have said that they expect the cost to be less than fees for comparable online-entertainment services, such as a $7.99-a-month Netflix movie subscription.
