With Warner Interactive’s beat ’em up, Watchmen: The End Is Nigh Part I causing some murmurs as a digital-only release back in March, news came of the publisher’s decision to re-release the first episode along with the upcoming second part in physical form as a retail package.

Watchmen: The End Is Nigh to explode into stores after Warner’s “risky experiment” failed
Warner’s head of games for the UK, Spencer Crossley, explains how the primary decision to release the game digitally and episodically was reached as it was the best way the game could “meet the timeline to launch with the film.”
There are hopes that the game will get its second wind with another coinciding release, “With the retail version launching with the DVD, we are combining Parts I and II to offer extended gameplay to consumers. We will also have Part II available for digital download.”
Is this a step in the wrong direction for digital retail or a victory for those who like to caress the game box and gently break the seal when they buy a game…Or is that just me?
