“Xbox chief Peter Moore is pushing to extend the Live Arcade brands to retail, arguing internally that original games like Geometry Wars, retro hits like Smash TV and casual games like Hardwood Hearts will extend Xbox 360’s appeal to non-hardcore audiences.
The company is seeking to offer the games to the ‘other 50%’ of gamers that have not signed up to Xbox Live, while using the titles to showcase the platform as a welcoming destination.”

So now the other 50% of Xbox 360 users will soon be able to walk into a shop and buy a Xbox Live Arcade title. I can’t help but think that this isn’t really going to work out well though. Why buy a game which is more expensive because it comes on a disc and in a DVD case when it can be bought for cheaper on the Xbox Live Market Place. I also think it’s a waste of a DVD as the games average at around 30Mb.
But I don’t work for Microsoft’s Xbox marketing team so we will have to wait and see. What do you think about this move?
