Xbox 360 goes 1080p this fall

Do not rub your eyes in disbelief any more, you have read that news title correctly. HD techies will be jumping up and down in their home cinema basements, at the announcement of 1080p support for the Xbox 360.

Later this year, the fall update will enable 1080p support out of your pearly white box. This means your piece of kit will be able to push out a full 60 megapixels per second of visual eye candy to your compatible 1080p HDTV. There is still no news of an HDMI cable to suitability carry such a bandwidth heavy signal to your HDTV if at all, so we are still left with component and VGA HD sources.

Once the update has been made users can expect 1080p upscaling immediately on current games and DVDs as well as native 1080p support for compatible HD DVD titles. No announcement has been made yet on native 1080p support in Xbox 360 game titles at this current time.

We will let you know more on this fall update as soon as we hear more.
