A spokesperson for Vivendi Games has today told Eurogamer “I can confirm we will be doing World in Conflict for 360, and we will announce details soon”. It means World in Conflict will join fellow forthcoming Xbox 360 RTS titles such as EndWar and Universe at War: Earth Assault.
The game takes place in 1989. The Cold War never came to an end and now the Soviet Army has invaded Europe and the US. The threat of nuclear war is always a big possibility in the game.
Massive Entertainment, the game’s Swedish developers, originally designed the game as a multiplayer game with the pick-and-playability of many of today’s FPS titles being a big inspiration. Multiplayer battles can see eight players taking on another eight. Each player has their own specific role in the team, each being allowed access to units that are more relevant to them only.
Single player has also been a major focus with Massive promising a rollercoaster ride of emotion similar to the Call of Duty games.
World in Conflict is set for release on Games for Windows in September. There’s currently no release date for the Xbox 360 version, but we’ll keep you posted here at Console Monster.
