Unreal Tournament Finally Confirmed for Xbox 360

After months and months of speculation and rumour (and even an appearance on Xbox.com) Miday have finally confirmed that Unreal Tournament will be coming to Xbox 360. Unreal Tournament 3 (which was previously known as Unreal Tournament 2007) will be coming to Xbox 360 in the second quarter of 2007. The name choice is slightly bizarre however, as this is the forth UT game.

We can’t say we’re surprised at Midway’s decision, after all, the Xbox 360 already has an established user base of around 10 million and Epic’s other game, Gears of War, proved fairly popular with Xbox 360 owners.

The latest edition in the Unreal series will push the 360 to it’s limits with it’s incredible visuals (see the trailer below). Epic say the AI will be more agressive and generally better. The single player story will be more engaging that previous UT games and co-op play will be included. But for those of you who’d rather blow up your buddies rather than help them, Epic say the multiplayer experience will be better than ever with seemless loading and improved matchmaking abilites. Old favourites like Capture the Flag and Team Deathmatch return amongst new modes like Warfare.

We’ll have more on UT3 in the weeks and months leading up to release, meanwhile check out this newly released trailer:
