New servers for Battlefield 1943

DICE and EA have taken on a few extra monkeys to try and help fix the problems which are affecting Battlefield 1943 at the moment.

The arcade title launched on the console yesterday and is due for the PS3 later today. High demand is blamed for the problems according to a post over on the EA forums, where producer Gordon Van Dyke blamed servers unexpectedly hitting capacity.

Our own forum users have been discussing the problems with Sean saying: “At 1:46am I’m still having problems getting into the game. Me, Phat, Raised and dfcmark had a full private match but when we tried to start a game it seemed to be searching.. with no luck. Constant error of being unable to find a game, EVEN when we have a game full of players ready to go.”

Dfcmark said: “played a few games but once you get in a game you better stay in it if you want to carry on playing with little trouble.”

And finally Phatmuther (don’t ask if he does have a fat mum) raises a good question: “Why do developers/Microsoft always underestimate demand for playing online? Why dont they always Over-estimate then just remove the extra servers a week later when they know the numbers?”.

New servers are now online but some people are still reporting problems. Either way, fingers crossed you should have a lag-free experience soon. Keep us posted on the problems by commenting below and we’ll have a full review soon!
