FIFA 09 is best-selling game of 2008

Chartrack have spent the last week or so totting up the sales figures in 2008 and the results have arrived via pigeon carrier to us.

And at the top of the pile shifting 2 million copies was FIFA 09 which as ever was avaliable on every format going including the Spectrum (perhaps not then!).

Mario Kart Wii was the second biggest seller. Anyone remember the N64 version not selling that well? The wonders of a plastic wheel.

GTA IV was third which was released in the early part of 2008. Call of Duty: World at War and Lego Indiana Jones came sixth and ninth which leaves the other bestsellers also on the Wii.

That includes Mario and Sonic at the Olympics at four, Wii Fit at five (sorry, someone has it in stock?), Wii Play at seven (the £2 game though, the cheats!), Carnival: Funfair Games at 10 and Brain Traning for DS at eight.

It seems the Wii will probably again have some of the strongest sales in 2009 and we might even see games from 2007 and 2008 making an appearence in the chart this time next year.

Either way we don’t care about Wii, so for us keep the sales shifting of the decent titles. Comments as ever below.
